About FIRST Robotics
Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it 'the hardest fun you’ll ever have.'
Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team 'brand,' hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with the FIRST Championship. While building a robot is a necessary component for participating in FRC, team members can be involved in a variety of team activities, including marketing, video production, presentations, and more. |
About the Team
Bixby High School's Robot Mafia was founded in 2008. We compete in the Oklahoma Regional Competition every spring, where we were finalists in 2009 and 2014.
Our name & logo were given to us by the announcers at our first robotics competition, where we showed up with no name and matching orange suits. The silhouettes in our logo are 3 of our founding members from that 2008 team. Any student in grades 9-12 are welcome to join. No experience or specific academic ability is required. Contact Mrs. Barnes in S-214 or Miss Churchill in 9GC N-124 for more information. |
